AKRON, OH — The Ruoff Mortgage Northeast Ohio branches hosted a kickball event last week to highlight two regional nonprofits, Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank and Feeding Medina County.

Referral partner offices were encouraged to form teams and participate in the round-robin style tournament. This annual event took place at Canal Park, home of the Akron RubberDucks.

“We are grateful for our Real Estate agents support as we hosted our Second Annual Kickball Tournament," said Matt Koch, Area Manager for Ruoff Mortgage in Northeast Ohio, "Having the chance to partner with Feeding Medina and the Akron Canton Regional Food Bank gave our employees the chance to give back to these two great organizations which do so much for our local communities. All in all, everyone had a great time for a great cause. It proves with hard work and teamwork, we can accomplish a lot.”

Attendees and teams were encouraged to collect canned or dry food items as donations to both food banks. In addition, monetary donations were also accepted. Over 1,000 food items, weighing in at 736 lbs., were collected and $1,419 was raised through the event. Every dollar raised, in turn, provides three meals to those in need.

"Food insecurity continues to be a challenge in our community; the number of neighbors who turn to us for help with groceries continues to increase," said Janet Newcomer, Executive Director of Feeding Medina County. "Events like this that raise awareness of the problem and give people an opportunity to make a difference in their communities make all the difference."
