AKRON, OH — The Ruoff Mortgage Northeast Ohio branch offices hosted their third annual kickball event last week to highlight two regional nonprofits, Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank and Feeding Medina County.

Referral partner offices were encouraged to form teams and participate in the round-robin style tournament. This annual event took place at Canal Park, home of the Akron RubberDucks.

“We are grateful for our Real Estate agents support as we hosted our third annual Kickball Tournament," said Matt Koch, Area Manager for Ruoff Mortgage in Northeast Ohio, “Not only is it a fun day with our partners, but it’s a great privilege to help support and bring awareness to the needs of Akron Canton Food Bank and Feeding Medina.”

Attendees and teams were encouraged to collect canned or dry food items as donations to both food banks. In addition, monetary donations were also accepted. Over 885 food items were collected in-person at the event.

Ruoff Mortgage matched can per dollar for each food bank with a monetary donation. Brian Moore, President of Kingdom Title Solutions, also pledged a match on behalf of his organization, bringing the total monetary donation to each food bank to $1,327.50. Every dollar raised, in turn, provides three meals for those in need.

"Food insecurity continues to be a challenge in our community; the number of neighbors who turn to us for help with groceries continues to increase," said Janet Newcomer, Executive Director of Feeding Medina County. "Events like this that raise awareness of the problem and give people an opportunity to make a difference in their communities."
