Scheer, the Branch Manager for Ruoff’s Southwest Fort Wayne location, was honored at the IMBA’s State Mortgage Conference last week. The Distinguished Service Award celebrates exceptional contributions to the mortgage banking industry, community service and civic involvement within Indiana. The award is Indiana Bankers Associations’ highest honor and recognized individuals who have significantly impacted the industry and their communities. "We are extremely proud to hear that Joel Scheer has been presented this Distinguished Service Award by the IMBA,” says Clint Morgan, SVP and Chief Lending Officer. “Not only is he one of our most tenured Ruoff sales employees, Joel also represents the best of our brand. His commitment to customer service, sales leadership and philanthropy outside the office is second to none." His involvement with local chapters began in 2013 when he was nominated and joined the Northeast Indiana Mortgage Bankers Association Board of Directors. He served two terms as President of the Board and still serves on the board to this day. At the state level, Scheer joined the IMBA State Board of Directors in 2017, later taking on the roles of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and eventually President and Chairman, most recently from 2022-2023. In 2022, he was recognized as the IMBA Featured Member, highlighting his involvement with the organization. Scheer has served on the Nominating, Education and Al Thorup Future Leaders committees. Outside of leadership, Joel is the proud emcee for NEIMBA’s Trivia Nights, with tens of thousands of dollars going to local charities. He and his fellow NEIMBA member, Dave Nuerge, even took their show on the road to assist the Greater Indianapolis Mortgage Bankers Association with their own trivia fundraiser. He’s presented multiple times for IMBA’s Al Thorup Future Leader classes covering various topics related to Retail Production. Scheer joined Ruoff Mortgage in April of 2008 as Branch Manager at the company’s Southwest location in Fort Wayne, IN.
